Wenger knows he will inevitably receive criticism for not selling Nasri and Cesc Fabregas weeks ago - or months in the latter's case - as Arsenal have now lost arguably their two best players without replacing either.

The Frenchman will be expected to launch into the sort of spending frenzy he usually avoids between now and the end of the month but exactly who he will be able to recruit will depend hugely on the outcome of this match of course.

"The summer was very difficult because we had Cesc Fabregas and Nasri on permanent transfer negotiations and that is draining in the end," he told the BBC. "We lost two great players and that's a sad side of the story but at some stage it has to be over, because you want to focus on the future". www.mannastores.com

The loss of Nasri is not his only headache either as on Monday UEFA handed him a two-match touchline ban for breaking the terms of the sanctions that had put him in thre stands in the first leg.

Arsenal have requested that the ban should be delayed until after the Udinese game, and are waiting for UEFA's appeals body's response on that.

Strategy: Wenger has but one option - to pick the most experienced side available and the good news is that Robin van Persie has served his European ban and Gervinho and Alex Song are only banned in domestic football so can play as well.

Injury update: Tomas Rosicky has been passed fit enough to make the bench but Jack Wilshere is still out.

UDINESE:

The Italians are confident of making the Champions League group stage for the second time, although coach Francesco Guidolin was cautious.

"Arsenal is an unforgiving squad, so the match must be approached calmly, without nervousness, and without thinking about how we need two goals to reach the group phase - otherwise we'll risk falling into a puddle," he said.

Di Natale was confident his side's impressive performance in defeat in London could be replicated with more success in front of their own fans.

"We only suffered in the first 10 minutes when we didn't play like we know how to, then you saw the real Udinese," he said.
