Music Icon and the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin has been reportedly diagnosed with cancer. According to a variety of reports and a source from the Detroit Free Press, the star has pancreatic cancer and is recovering after she underwent major surgery last week.
Although Franklin and her camp have not confirmed the reports of Cancer, she had this to say:

“God is still in control,” Franklin said in a statement after her surgery, which was deemed “highly successful.” “I had superb doctors and nurses who were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country.”


Franklin has been visited several times by the Rev. Jesse Jackson, said Wednesday that she was “recovering very well” from surgery.
In related news the star hasn’t had the best of year, her son, Eddie, was beaten by three men at a Detroit gas station back in September. And a month earlier, she broke ribs in a fall, causing her to miss two free concerts in New York.
