The incident was said to have taken place last weekend in Angwar Kurmi area of Madaka district in Rafi Local Government Area of the state.
Sunday Tribune investigation revealed that the relationship between Ramatu, her mate and their husband became testy some years back, after Ramatu allegedly observed that her husband, Malam Yakubu, had developed more feelings for her mate, Hadiza a situation that did not go down well with her.www.mannastores.com
Insider sources told Sunday Tribune that Ramatu had complained aloud severally to her husband that she had been schemed out in the running of the home and that she was no longer contented with the situation which became contrary to the convivial atmosphere that obtained when she joined the family seven years back as the second wife.
The sources further disclosed that the alleged no love lost relationship between Ramatu and her husband was to later be extended to the senior wife.
Sunday Tribune further learnt that rather than Malam Yakubu proffering lasting solution to the festering feud between his two wives, he was said to be in the habits of always aligning with the senior wife, a development that further aggravated the already complicated situation.
Real trouble, however, began for the entire household when angered Ramatu allegedly plotted the murder of both her husband and her mate.
Further checks revealed that the mother of two, had, on a fateful evening, gone to the family farm where she was said to have harvested some fresh maize which she later boiled with water mixed with some poisonous substance.
Malam Yakubu was said to have initially refused to partake of the meal of boiled maize, but Hadiza was said to have persuaded him to change his mind on his earlier decision not to eat meal prepared by Ramatu.
But no sooner than the couple had eaten the boiled maize than they allegedly started complaining of stomach pain, which did not relieve them, despite all the local drugs that were administered on them with a view to neutralising the effect of the poison.
The situation was said to have climaxed as both husband and wife gave up the ghost, allegedly as a result of the stomach pains they suffered after consumption of the boiled maize.
This, it was learnt, left neighbours no choice than to suspect Ramatu as being responsible for the dastardly act.
The very close neighbours were said to have raised the alarm that eventually attracted other members of the community who were said to have thronged the scene of the crime.
The sympathizers were said to have compelled Ramatu to eat the remaining part of the maize, a request she was said to have bluntly refused and which further fueled the speculation that she must have boiled the maize with poison
