In African culture, women's decency was valued highly. This decency was portrayed in many forms including dressing, which in many tribes reflected mannerism. As part of the continued quest for decency, the early tribesmen with efforts from missionaries in Buganda came up with the idea of a Gomesi/Busuuti.
Gomesi is the official dress for women in Buganda, as in many tribes of Uganda. A woman not dressed in a Gomesi at a social function or event was not considered decently dressed until the recent arrival of Bitengi and Agbada from west Africa .
So l was touring around my friends profile l came accross some pictures of mine he had posted of me wearing of course in a "Gomesi"". Usualy in the Buganda culture before the wedding we have to formal events we do.
One is the "Kukyla"" as what we would call our fist formal visit this is where both your man's side and your side (Woman's" side) get to know each other, you talk about your history ,family background..oohh my God the list is endless.
Then the final one comes called the ""Kwajula "" this is where alot of poeple are invited, there is the engagement part,so there is no much about getting to know each other its more fun and interesting
